Legislative Representation

Protecting your future - VRMA is your voice. The VRMA has been serving the retail community in the legislative arena since 1905. Our strong presence before the General Assembly and throughout the year before its various committees and the states' administrative bodies has made the VRMA the most influential association that works solely on behalf of the retail industry. We have 7 registered lobbyists and each year we influence hundreds of important issues.

Industry

The Retail Industry is the largest private employer in the state. The sales tax applied to our industry is the largest single contributor to Virginia's budget. With over 100,000 retailers in Virginia we are the life blood of the Commonwealth.

Directions

From Norfolk and points East of Richmond:

  • Take Interstate 64 West to the 5th Street/Coliseum Exit, which is Exit 190.
  • Go through 6 stoplights.  At the 7th stoplight turn left onto Franklin Street.
  • Go through one stoplight on Franklin Street to 7th Street.
  • Go through this stoplight and 701 East Franklin Street is the first building on the right hand corner.  It is a red brick office building.

From Washington, D.C. and points North of Richmond:

  • Take Interstate 95 South to Exit 75, the 3rd Street, Coliseum Exit.
  • Go through 6 stoplights.  At the 7th stoplight turn left onto Franklin Street.
  • Go 4 blocks down Franklin Street through three stoplights.
  • Go through the fourth stoplight and 701 East Franklin Street is the first building on the right hand corner.  It is a red brick office building.

From Petersburg and points South of Richmond:

  • Take Interstate 95 North to Exit 74A, the exit for the Downtown Expressway, Rt. 195.
  • Take the first exit off Rt. 195, which is the Canal Street, Rt. 60 exit.
  • As you exit you will be on Canal Street.
  • Go up Canal Street to 7th Street and turn right onto 7th Street.
  • Go through two lights.
  • At the 3rd light turn right onto Franklin Street.
  • 701 East Franklin is the first building on the right hand corner.  It is a red brick office building.

From Charlottesville and points West of Richmond:

  • Take Interstate 64 East to Exit 186 to the Downtown Expressway, Route 195.
  • Pay the $.50 toll at the toll booth.
  • Exit Route 195 at the 7th & 9th Street Exit.
  • Stay in the left hand land and turn left onto 7th Street.
  • Cross over the Downtown Expressway and go through 3 lights.
  • At the Fourth stoplight at Franklin Street, turn right onto Franklin Street.
